Protocols and obfuscation

Windscribe ships an unusually wide protocol set: WireGuard, OpenVPN, IKEv2, Stealth (OpenVPN wrapped in stunnel), and WStunnel (OpenVPN tunnelled inside WebSockets). Stealth and WStunnel are explicit obfuscation choices and they work well against simpler filters — they shaped traffic through what looks like ordinary TLS or HTTP-WebSocket traffic on standard ports.

The structural difference between Windscribe Stealth and Fexyn Stealth (VLESS Reality with Vision flow) is what the censor sees. Stunnel produces TLS-shaped traffic. Reality produces a genuine TLS 1.3 handshake to a real public website, then hijacks the connection from the inside. To DPI fingerprinting tooling, Reality looks like Microsoft.com. Stunnel looks like TLS to a Windscribe IP. In Iran, China, and Russia's TSPU regime, that distinction often decides whether the connection holds.

Where Windscribe is better

Several real strengths Fexyn does not currently match:

• Best free tier in the category. 10 GB/month is genuinely useful, not a teaser.
• ROBERT. Custom-blocklist DNS filtering with per-account control — domain-level granularity Fexyn does not yet match.
• Platform breadth. Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, browser extensions, router configs, Fire TV — all as native clients. Fexyn ships native Windows and Android apps today; macOS, iOS, Linux, and routers work via a token link in any VLESS-compatible client rather than a dedicated app.
• Transparency culture. Windscribe's public communication about a 2021 Ukraine server seizure (no usable data was recovered, even though logs were attempted to be requested) is one of the most useful real-world stress tests of any VPN no-logs claim. Fexyn has not been similarly tested.
• Build-a-plan pricing. Pay only for the locations you use, from $1/location/month.

Where Fexyn is the better fit

Pick Fexyn over Windscribe if:

• You connect from a heavy-DPI country (Iran, China, UAE, parts of Russia under TSPU). Reality holds where stunnel increasingly does not.
• You are in a Tier 3 or Tier 4 market and $2.99/month meaningfully changes the affordability question.
• You want short-lived 24-hour certificates from a managed PKI as part of your threat model.
• You want a Wyoming jurisdiction outside the Five Eyes structure some users avoid.
