Billing
Payment failed at checkout
What the common decline reasons mean, and what to try next.
Common decline reasons
- Wrong card details. The most common cause. Double-check the number, expiry, CVV, and the billing postcode (some processors validate this strictly).
- 3D Secure failed or timed out. Your bank required an extra verification step (push notification, SMS code) and the window timed out. Try again and complete the 3DS prompt promptly.
- Card declined by issuer. Your bank flagged the charge. Insufficient funds, fraud heuristic, or international-charge restrictions are the usual reasons. Call the bank or check the card app.
- Card not supported in your region. Some prepaid cards and some country-locked cards can't process international subscriptions. Try a different card.
Try a different card
If the first card fails twice, try another. Most users have a second card (a credit card alongside a debit card, or a virtual card from their banking app). The second attempt usually works if the issue was issuer-side fraud heuristics.
Virtual / disposable cards from services like Privacy.com (US), Revolut, Wise, or your bank's built-in virtual card feature work for Fexyn subscriptions. They're also a good option if you want to limit recurring charges to a specific amount.
Try cryptocurrency
Fexyn accepts BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, and several other tokens. Cryptocurrency payments don't go through card-issuer verification at all, so they bypass the decline path entirely. They're also the right option if you're paying from a country where Fexyn's card processor doesn't operate (e.g., several sanctioned jurisdictions where local cards can't be charged).
Pick crypto at checkout. The interface displays the amount in your chosen token at the current rate, with a QR code and address. Send the exact amount within the window shown; the subscription activates automatically once the transaction confirms.
Regional pricing means local-currency billing
Fexyn uses[regional pricing](/blog/regional-vpn-pricing-explained) across 192 countries. Your tier is determined by your IP at checkout. The price you see is the price you pay — there's no hidden currency-conversion fee from Fexyn.
Your bank may add a foreign-transaction fee if the charge currency differs from your card's currency. That's a bank fee, not a Fexyn fee. Most modern cards don't charge it; older travel-cards sometimes do.
Subscription paused after payment failed
If a renewal payment fails, Fexyn enters a 7-day dunning period. The app shows a banner asking you to update your payment method. Service stays active during the dunning window. After 7 days, the subscription pauses; you keep your account, but you can't connect until billing succeeds.
Update your payment method from the dashboard at any point during dunning to clear the pause.
When to email support
Email support@fexyn.com from the email on your account, with:
- The exact error message at checkout
- Approximate time of the attempt (so we can find the charge attempt in the logs)
- Card type (Visa / MC / Amex) and country of issue — not the card number
- Whether you've tried a different card or crypto
We don't need card details to help. We can see the decline reason on our side from the payment processor and walk you through what to try.
